Dehradun, April 29: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the “Himcast” mobile application on Wednesday during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation. The event, held at Mukhya Sevak Sadan in Dehradun, marked 25 years of the corporation’s service and signaled a shift toward digital governance in the state’s forestry sector.
The Chief Minister stated that the new application is a vital step in modernizing the sale and distribution of forest produce. He affirmed that Himcast will allow stakeholders to engage in timber trading and purchase forest goods through an online interface. According to the Chief Minister, this digital transition is designed to make the corporation’s sales processes more accessible, reliable, and effective for all participants.
During his address, the Chief Minister declared that the initiative aligns with a broader commitment to balancing ecology and technology. He maintained that the platform would ensure greater transparency in how forest products are managed and sold. He asserted that under current national guidance, the state remains focused on integrating economic growth with environmental sustainability through such technological advancements.
Beyond the digital launch, the Chief Minister also recently reviewed major infrastructure works, including the land port project at Banbasa. He noted that such projects are essential for international connectivity and regional economic strength. He stated that development must prioritize public interest while creating new employment opportunities at the grassroots level.
