Panchkula Announces Major Subsidies for Straw Management Equipment

Farmers to receive financial support to curb stubble burning in coming season

Panchkula, July 16:The Haryana government has introduced a substantial subsidy scheme to encourage sustainable farming practices and combat seasonal air pollution in North India. Under the initiative, farmers in the Panchkula district will be eligible for a fifty percent financial subsidy on the purchase of crop residue management machinery. The program is being rolled out under the state’s agricultural development framework for the current fiscal year.

Agricultural department officials stated that the subsidy will directly lower the entry barrier for farmers wishing to adopt eco-friendly clearing methods. The administration affirmed that providing affordable access to specialized balers, seeders, and choppers is crucial to preventing the open burning of paddy straw.

Local administrative blocks have already started accepting registrations from individual farmers and cooperative groups. Authorities declared that priority will be given to small and marginal landholders to maximize the reach of the environmental campaign. The state agriculture department maintained that collective adoption of these machines remains the most effective path toward achieving zero-stubble-burning targets in the region.
