Punjab Shows Tourism, Culture at India International Trade Fair

Chandigarh/New Delhi, November 28, 2024 – Punjab is emerging as a leading hub for farm tourism, said Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs Tarunpreet Singh Sond during the Punjab Day event at the India International Trade Fair 2024 held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Sond noted that the state’s farm tourism policy is transforming the sector, strengthening local economies, and increasing farmers’ income. Village Hansali in Fatehgarh Sahib district, recognized as India’s best village in September, exemplifies the success of Punjab’s focus on rural and agri-tourism.

The minister also lauded Punjab’s achievements in industry and innovation, stating that the Invest Punjab portal secured first place among 28 states. “Punjab leads the country with over 58,000 registered MSMEs, reflecting robust economic activity.”

He announced plans for a film city to boost Punjab’s entertainment potential.

He brought out the state’s rich cultural and historical offerings, including holy sites, martyr villages, and natural attractions. To further expand tourism, the Punjab government has introduced the Water and Adventure Tourism Policy-2023.

At the Punjab Pavilion, Secretary for Tourism and Cultural Affairs Malwinder Singh Jaggi and Director Amrit Singh showcased Punjab’s heritage and industrial growth through exhibits by Punjab Tourism, Markfed, Verka, PSIEC-Invest Punjab, and other state bodies.

Lakhwinder Wadali fascinated audiences with soulful Sufi music.

The minister also invited industries, including the hospitality sector, to invest in Punjab and experience its unmatched hospitality.
