Chandigarh, 20 January 2025: To ensure a peaceful Republic Day 2025 celebration in Punjab, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav ordered heightened security measures across the state on Monday.
Key directives include increased police patrolling during night hours, intensified surveillance, and deployment of additional personnel in sensitive areas, including border districts.
DGP Yadav, accompanied by Special DGP Internal Security R.N. Dhoke, ADGP ANTF Neelabh Kishore, and ADGP AGTF Pramod Ban, visited Amritsar and Jalandhar to conduct review meetings with officials from Commissionerates and police ranges in Border, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana.
Discussions focused on maintaining public safety, combating organized crime, and curbing drug trafficking.
“We have reviewed security arrangements and issued instructions to ensure adequate police presence at critical locations. Operations have been intensified to maintain peace and harmony ahead of Republic Day,” Yadav stated.
Enhanced patrols, particularly at night, aim to swiftly address any potential threats or disruptions.
Security forces have also been directed to implement preventive measures and heightened vigilance in preparation for the national celebration.
