Hisar, July 11:  Four students—including two directly involved in the killing—were apprehended by police on Friday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a private school director in Haryana’s Hisar district. The incident occurred on Thursday at a senior secondary school in Baas village, where the director, Jagbir Singh Pannu, was attacked on campus.

Pannu, around 55, was declared dead at a private hospital in Hisar after sustaining three stab wounds, according to police. “The two minors who stabbed him had earlier been reprimanded for disciplinary issues, including personal grooming and classroom conduct,” said Amit Yashvardhan, Superintendent of Police, Hansi. “Two others conspired with them and supplied the weapon used in the attack.”

CCTV footage from the school showed two students fleeing the scene immediately after the attack. During further investigation, two additional students were identified as part of the plot.

“After the stabbing, the accused snatched a motorcycle from a passerby to escape,” said SP Yashvardhan. “They are all aged around 15 and will be dealt with under the Juvenile Justice Act. Their identities cannot be disclosed.”

Police teams were mobilised across locations to track down the suspects. On Friday, they were located near the Mundal bus stand in uniform and taken into custody.

Inspector Mandeep, in charge of Baas police station, said the murder appears to be premeditated. “The students had planned the crime two days in advance. One held the director while the other stabbed him,” he said. “There was no previous criminal history, but we are probing if any external gang or online influence was involved.”

According to the SP, Pannu had been counselling the students to stay away from drugs and maintain school discipline. “He repeatedly asked them to trim their hair and follow school norms. That seems to have led to resentment,” he said.

A video, allegedly of the two key accused, surfaced on social media shortly after the incident. Authorities are verifying its authenticity as part of the ongoing investigation.
