Surrey, Aug 8— Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, British Columbia, was targeted in a second gunfire attack early Thursday morning, less than a month after a similar incident shut the venue temporarily.
According to local residents, multiple gunshots were heard around 4:30 am at KAP’s Café, located at the intersection of 85 Avenue and Scott Road. Initial reports suggest at least six rounds were fired, with damage visible on the café’s windows. No injuries have been reported so far.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident or the extent of damage to the property.
The attack appears to have possible gang connections. A social media account operated by gangster Goldy Dhillon, who claims affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has claimed responsibility. An unverified post attributed to Dhillon stated:
“Jai Shree Ram. Sat Shree Akaal, Ram Ram to all brothers. The firing that happened today at Kapil Sharma’s KAP’s Café in Surrey has been claimed by Goldy Dhillon, affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. We called him but he did not answer the call, so we had to take action. If he still does not respond, then we will take the next action in Mumbai soon.”
This marks the second such attack on Sharma’s café within a month. The first incident occurred on July 10, after which the establishment was shut down. It had only reopened on July 20, according to local sources.
Law enforcement officials are expected to examine surveillance footage and gather forensic evidence to identify the perpetrators. Investigations into possible extortion or intimidation motives are also likely, given the gang involvement claims.
As of now, neither Sharma nor his representatives have issued a public response regarding the incident.
The attacks come amid a wider trend of overseas criminal networks targeting businesses with ties to Indian celebrities, a pattern that authorities in both Canada and India are closely monitoring.
