Amritsar, Feb 6: A drone-based smuggling operation was disrupted on Wednesday night when Border Security Force (BSF) troops recovered 541 grams of suspected heroin near the international boundary. The incident occurred at the Pul Moran border outpost, where alert personnel spotted and secured the contraband.

The seized packet was handed over to the local police by a BSF team led by ASI Arun Singh. Law enforcement has since taken possession of the narcotics and initiated a detailed inquiry into the smuggling attempt. The recovery shows the ongoing challenges of unmanned aerial vehicles being used for illegal activities in the border region.

“A case has been formally registered and the seized contraband has been taken into possession as evidence,” police officials said while confirming the registration of a case under the NDPS Act. The authorities are currently examining the forensic details of the packaging to determine its origin.

Officials noted that the swift recovery prevented the drugs from reaching their final destination within the state. “BSF ASI Arun Singh, along with accompanying staff, handed over a sealed packet containing 541 grams of suspected heroin for further legal action,” an official source said. Investigators are now tracking potential recipients who may have been waiting for the drone drop in the vicinity of the border.
