New Delhi, March 1: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday declared that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will secure a resounding victory of 100 seats in the 2027 state elections, signaling a national shift against central authoritarianism. Speaking at a large public gathering at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, the Chief Minister asserted that the recent court verdict favoring the party marks a historic triumph of truth in Indian politics.
Addressing supporters via video conferencing alongside National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Mann maintained that the legal victory has transformed AAP into a more formidable national force. He stated that the attempt to suppress the party through federal agencies has failed, reinforcing the resolve of its leadership. “Where Punjab moves, the nation follows,” the Chief Minister affirmed, noting that the state has a long history of resisting injustice.
The Chief Minister voiced significant grievances regarding the central government’s financial treatment of Punjab. He noted that the Centre has withheld ₹8,000 crore in Rural Development Funds (RDF) and GST dues. Additionally, he asserted that while ₹1,600 crore in flood relief was previously announced for the state, not a single paisa has been released. Mann declared that Punjabis would respond to this perceived injustice through the democratic process in 2027.
Reflecting on the party’s origins at Jantar Mantar, Mann stated that the struggle is not for any single individual but a broader battle to protect the Constitution and democratic values. He asserted that while opponents attempted to stall the party by jailing its leadership, the AAP emerged stronger. He noted that even during the incarceration of senior leaders, the party secured significant victories in the Jalandhar by-election.
The Chief Minister concluded by affirming Punjab’s contributions to the nation, from the Green Revolution to border security. He maintained that the state’s upcoming electoral mandate would serve as a “gift” of support to the national leadership, starting a march toward national victory.
