Chandigarh, June 6: The Punjab government will commence direct monthly cash distributions to eligible women across the state starting July 1, following a final operational check by administration leaders on Friday.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann reviewed the organizational setup for the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, confirming a massive fiscal commitment of ₹9,300 crore to fund the social security expansion. The structural guidelines specify a multi-tiered payment system where women from general categories will receive ₹1,000 every month, while those belonging to the Scheduled Caste community are entitled to ₹1,500 monthly.

“Funds will be directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts,” Mann stated during the preparation review. “Women who are already receiving social security pensions will also be eligible under the scheme.”

The administration projects that the financial network will eventually encompass 97 percent of the female population residing across Punjab’s districts. To ensure thorough delivery, the state deployed a localized workforce of roughly two lakh Mahila Satkar Sakhis to manage application data and confirm banking details at the village level.

Enrollment operations are running daily through established public centers, including rural Anganwadi hubs and regional Sewa Kendras. Mann asserted that providing secure economic autonomy directly to households helps strengthen families and significantly advances long-term gender equity in regional economic decision-making.
