Chandigarh, June 27: The Punjab Police registered 5,091 cases and apprehended 7,105 drug smugglers between March 2025 and June 2026 under the targeted ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ initiative. Sharing the campaign details on Friday, Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal affirmed that the state administration remains relentlessly committed to eliminating organized crime and substance abuse to secure the future of the youth and ensure long-term stability.
The spokesperson declared that the current administration is utilizing structural operations to counter illicit networks, including the unprecedented step of demolishing properties belonging to major commercial drug dealers. He maintained that alongside extensive narcotic recoveries—including over 3,103 kilograms of heroin, substantial amounts of opium, and various medical injections—security forces successfully seized a record ₹18.73 crore in drug money from smugglers.
“The Bhagwant Singh Mann Government’s battle against drugs will continue until drugs are completely eliminated from Punjab and every single gangster is behind bars. We are committed to securing the future of Punjab’s youth and restoring peace across the state,” Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated.
Addressing border security complexities, the legislator noted that the 532-kilometer-long international border presents unique logistical hurdles due to cross-border drone activity bringing in contraband and weapons. He asserted that while local and central border forces are making strenuous efforts, the strategic deployment of advanced anti-drone technology remains highly necessary to fully seal the perimeter and enhance the excellent groundwork being done by state police personnel.
“Had the Central Government installed the anti-drone systems along Punjab’s international border as repeatedly demanded by the Punjab Government, drugs could have been completely eliminated from Punjab by now,” the spokesperson maintained.
The state has simultaneously advanced its crackdown on organized crime through the dedicated ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, leading to raids across 562 locations and the arrest of numerous dangerous offenders. The spokesperson stated that alongside these security operations, the administration continues to reinforce public welfare by running extensive health setups, optimizing canal water for farming, and introducing direct financial assistance programs for families.
