AMBALA, June 1—A massive fire tore through a mattress manufacturing facility in Mandour village near Ambala City on Monday, sending a towering column of dense black smoke into the sky that could be seen from kilometers away. Emergency responders attribute the rapid spread of the fire to the highly combustible materials stored on-site. Fire department personnel Satish stated that seven fire tenders were deployed immediately to combat the inferno, which was fueled heavily by mattresses and raw synthetic components.

Government and law enforcement officials arrived at the scene shortly after the alarm was raised to oversee the emergency response. Deputy Superintendent of Police Jitender Jindal stated that the situation was brought under control and the flames were largely contained before spreading to adjacent properties. Preliminary findings by technical teams indicate that an electrical short circuit inside the structure likely initiated the blaze.
