Amritsar, 15 January 2025: Tensions flared in Gokul Ka Bagh, under the jurisdiction of Police Station-B Division, as residents protested against smoke emissions from a factory operating out of a house in the area.

According to reports, an argument escalated into a physical altercation, leaving one resident injured.

Harjinder Singh sustained serious injuries during the confrontation and was hospitalized for treatment. According to his family, the dispute began when residents, frustrated with health issues caused by the factory’s smoke, repeatedly urged the owner to relocate. “My wife has health problems because of this smoke,” Singh reportedly told the factory owner before the altercation.

The victim’s family alleged they were mistreated and assaulted by the factory owner and his son when they raised objections. “The factory’s chimney has been causing illnesses, and when we demanded its relocation, they attacked us,” a family member claimed, appealing to the police for justice.

A police official confirmed receiving complaints from the residents, stating that a clash occurred over grievances related to the smoke. “We’ve been informed about the incident, and a resident was injured in the altercation. Statements are being recorded, and appropriate action will follow,” the officer said.

Residents continue to express concern over the environmental and health impact of the factory, demanding immediate action from authorities to resolve the issue.
