Gurugram, July 14:  Tensions flared on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway near Signature Tower on Tuesday when police personnel intercepted and detained dozens of Congress party workers. The political demonstration, organized by the District Congress Committee, was stopped as protesters attempted to march toward the regional Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters, known as Gurukamal, in Sector 31.

The administrative action followed the implementation of protective safety measures by the Gurugram district authorities, who had enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The directive prohibits unauthorized gatherings of five or more people within three hundred meters of the political office. When the march reached the security barricades set up along the national highway, officers blocked the route after the organizers disregarded administrative warnings. The resulting confrontation caused temporary traffic delays on the busy transport corridor.

The political dispute stems from a campaign organized by Congress District Presidents Vardhan Yadav and Pankaj Dawar. The local leadership coordinated a religious recitation of the Sundarkand Path to draw public attention to alleged financial irregularities concerning donations for the Ayodhya Ram Temple, asserting that administration officials have shielded those responsible. Security personnel resolved the highway impasse by physically removing resisting demonstrators and transporting them to nearby facilities in transit vans.

“They tore our clothes, used force and physically assaulted us just because we wanted to pray,” Vardhan Yadav asserted from inside a police vehicle. The local representative declared that using security personnel to disrupt individuals attempting to participate in a religious chant was an insult to the public.

Local police officials strongly refuted all claims of using excessive force or physical mistreatment. Senior administrators maintained that the security response was executed purely to uphold public safety, protect traffic flow, and prevent potential clashes between opposing political workers.
