Amritsar, 14 January 2025: Punjab celebrated the holy day of Maghi with devotion and grandeur on Sunday, as thousands of devotees thronged Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib to pay homage and pray in memory of the forty liberated ones. The occasion, revered by Sikhs across India and abroad, also coincided with Sangrand, adding to the spiritual significance.
Devotees offered prayers, listened to soulful kirtan, and bathed in the holy tank at the Golden Temple. Pilgrims, many traveling long distances, prayed for personal and family prosperity. “We come here every year for blessings and to connect with the Guru’s teachings,” said a devotee from Delhi.
The day also marks a fair at Sri Muktsar Sahib, commemorating the martyrdom of the forty Mukte, who fought alongside Guru Gobind Singh Ji. “Maghi is a reminder of their sacrifice. Whatever we ask from this holy place is fulfilled,” said another devotee.
The celebrations underscored the spiritual and cultural heritage of the day, drawing visitors from across the globe to participate in prayers and immerse themselves in Gurbani.
