Massive Security Deployment in Jaipur Amid Demolition Drive

Internet Services Frozen Across Jaipur Over Road-Widening Project

JAIPUR, JUNE 8— Over 3,000 security personnel and heavy tactical units blanketed this capital city on Monday as the Jaipur Development Authority initiated a major infrastructure clearance project involving the removal of multiple religious sites in the Jagatpura area. The municipal operation, intended to expand a 1.5-kilometer bottleneck along Nandpuri Road, prompted regional administrators to completely suspend mobile internet services across major urban blocks to minimize community friction.

The enforcement parameters reordered public access routes around the primary railway transit lines, closing vehicle access to incoming peripheral roads as demolition teams cleared designated structural boundaries.

“The situation is completely peaceful, and there is no opposition so far,” stated Assistant Superintendent of Police Saroj Dhayal during an early morning field assessment. Dhayal noted that initial security barriers successfully managed the perimeter while emergency teams systematically removed around 10 to 12 targeted structures encroaching upon the public right-of-way.

The widening strategy aims to increase the local arterial network from its current restrictive span of 25 feet up to a mandated 80-foot corridor, a shift expected to stabilize transit times for nearly 50 local colonies linking Malviya Nagar and Apex Circle. The clearance schedule included the demolition of five prominent religious landmarks, consisting of two temples, a mosque, a satsang hall, and a mazar, following the expiration of voluntary relocation notices issued earlier in the quarter.

Municipal authorities deployed 12 specialized companies of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary to sensitive neighborhoods, drawing additional security details from nearby Kota and Bharatpur commands to guarantee localized stability.

Opposition lawmakers questioned the severe administrative steps, raising concerns over communal equilibrium during the structural removals.

“Matters involving places of worship should be handled through consultation and consensus,” asserted Congress MLA Rafiq Khan, who urged municipal boards to pause direct actions in favor of community negotiation. Representative committees representing the affected shrines indicated they would pursue subsequent legal challenges through institutional channels, while local security forces maintained surveillance drones across the site through the evening.
